Launch of “Parole Partagée”: A Platform for Dialogue and Collaboration for Parents of Children with Disabilities
December 30, 2024 marks the official launch of “Parole Partagée”, a New Horizons Foundation initiative aimed at creating a space for open and constructive dialogue between the Foundation’s management and parents of children with disabilities. More than 200 parents of disabled children attended the event, which was attended by Mrs. Yacine Queenie BONGO ONDIMBA, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mrs. Stella IGNOUMBA, Managing Director of the Foundation, and members of the General Coordination.
The aim of this new platform is to strengthen collaboration between the Foundation and families, by providing a forum where parents’ concerns, suggestions and expectations can be heard and taken into account.
“Parole Partagée”: A Bridge between Parents and the Foundation
The “Parole Partagée” platform is first and foremost a tool for bringing the Foundation’s management and families closer together. It enables parents, who are the primary players in their children’s educational journey, to ask questions, share concerns and submit suggestions.
This initiative is also a participative space where parents, experts in their children’s daily lives, can share their advice, tips and experiences. These exchanges will enrich the Foundation’s practice and enable us to better respond to the specific needs of each child.
Delayed start of the new administrative year: a cause for concern
A particularly important issue for many families is the late start to the new school year for some children. This delay is in no way due to negligence, but to a meticulous process designed to ensure that every child receives the best possible support.
After the May 2024 registration campaign, over 400 applications were received, requiring rigorous processing due to their complexity. Individual diagnosis, an essential stage in the development of children with disabilities, is a lengthy process that enables us to adapt the educational program to the specific needs of each child. Although this process can lead to delays, it is necessary in order to offer a tailor-made learning environment, enabling optimal development.
Providing Quality Education: A Shared Commitment
The aim of the New Horizons Foundation is to provide each child with a learning environment that enables them to develop to their full potential, discover their talents and build their self-confidence. The Foundation’s aim is for every child, whatever their disability, to be fully integrated into society.
To achieve this objective, multi-disciplinary teams, specialists and educators trained in the specificities of disabilities are put in place to meet the personalized needs of each child. However, this mission cannot be achieved without active collaboration between the Foundation and the families.
“Parole Partagée”: A Step Towards the Future
The “Parole Partagée” platform represents a real step into the future. It will provide a space for parents to ask questions, voice concerns and share ideas. Feedback from parents will be essential to continually improve educational practices and better meet children’s needs.
The Foundation is here to listen, understand and co-construct a better future for children with disabilities. It’s vital that families are actively involved in this process, to ensure that every child has access to the education and support they deserve.
