Governance

The New Horizons Foundation has adopted a governance structure adapted to new challenges.

Created as an association in 1996 and recognized as a public utility in 1998, the Foundation wished to take on full Foundation status, as permitted by law. Thus, since January 24, 2019, new bylaws and internal regulations have been adopted, a new board of directors has appointed its president in the person of Ms. Yacine BONGO and an executive director, Ms. Stella IGNOUMBA.

Work areas

The Foundation is reborn with a gradual implementation of its project.

Comprehensive building renovation work has enabled the Foundation to open its headquarters on the historic site at the end of 2023, with the aim of opening two (2) establishments by March 2024.

The evolutionary axes allow us to envisage the deployment of the project in three (3) phases: at opening, in the medium term (1 to 2 years), and in the long term (3 to 5 years).

When it opens, the TARII facility for intellectually impaired children will be part of the medico-educational, pedagogical and professional center. The WISII facility for visually impaired children will be the focus of the special education division.

In the medium term, the SAMBA facility for intellectually challenged children with autism spectrum disorders will open its doors, along with an assisted-labor facility. The adapted education department is working on opening a Braille library, as well as a digital library. The Training & Resources division will open the ERIZA center, which will provide training courses for professionals.

In the medium and long term, in order to complete the range of services available to young people, the Pôle médico-éducatif pédagogique et professionnel aims to open an adapted occupational home, a specialized foster home and a SESSAD. The adapted education division will set up a training and support service for families whose children are not supported by the FHN, training for visually impaired adults, and a school inclusion service (SAAS). The Diagnosis and Guidance division will create the ABA’A center for early detection and guidance of young people with disabilities. Finally, the training and resources department will develop partnerships with university research laboratories.
